UVA Acts presents – Inclusive Teaching: Student Belonging

The Faculty Hub will be hosting a virtual presentation by UVA Acts on Friday, October 30 from 12-1:30 p.m. Registration will be capped at 30 participants.

Inclusive Teaching: Student Belonging is an interactive presentation via Zoom that invites participants to consider the importance of cultivating a sense of belonging in the classroom. Participants will practice critical reflection and analysis around stories of students’ experiences in the classroom and use those analytical skills to generate discussion about ways to promote student belonging in their own classrooms. We invite faculty to build a shared understanding of the ways in which students’ experiences can be supported by consistent actions from instructors.

This program will be facilitated via Zoom and will include short videos for participants to watch via Box. Video links will be provided during the presentation, and the short videos are integrated into a larger group discussion. To enable full participation, participants should connect to the presentation on a device capable of streaming video (i.e. laptop, tablet, or smartphone). The presentation will be live-captioned for accessibility. If you have any questions, please reach out to the Faculty Hub at facultyhub@richmond.edu.

About UVA Acts: A program run out of the University of Virginia’s Center for Teaching Excellence, UVA Acts uses performance and facilitated dialogue to engage faculty in discussions about how to foster more equitable learning experiences in the classroom.
