FYS Workshop: Promoting Academic Integrity in your FYS
Tue, Sep 20, 2022, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM EDT

The advent of artificial intelligence (AI), paid services, and other text generating tools have raised instructor anxiety with respect to academic dishonesty, spurring a flurry of articles and commentary across the academy. This session seeks to re-frame the conversation by asking: how can we, as FYS instructors, promote academic integrity in our classes? Considering tools such as Blackboard Safe Assign and course design strategies, we will consider the pedagogical opportunities that arise from initiating conversations with students surrounding academic integrity in our courses. Participants will leave with specific tips and resources for teaching best practices in academic citation.
