Thu, Mar 27, 2025, 1:00 – 2:15 PM EDT
Faculty Hub - Third Floor of Boatwright Library

Join us for an engaging conversation with David Carson, Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist and John S. Knight Journalism Fellow at Stanford University, as we explore the evolving role of Generative AI in photojournalism and beyond.
David, currently on leave from his role at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, is investigating the impact of AI-generated imagery on journalism and public trust. In this discussion, Andrew Bell, Faculty Hub Technology Consultant, will join David to examine AI’s role in the process and product of storytelling.
- How might AI support creative and academic labor by enhancing efficiency and process?
- What challenges does AI pose to the authenticity and credibility of news photography?
- How do these questions apply to teaching, research, and media consumption?
This conversation will be of interest to faculty, instructional staff, and anyone curious about the intersections of AI, storytelling, and ethics. Lunch will be provided.
