The Art of Reading Theory

Reading theory is hard, but it is also vitally important for liberal arts education. How can we better prepare our students to engage in depth with these texts? What can we do to reshape their relationship with theory? Join Gabriel Matthews for the workshop “The Art of Reading Theory” on Friday, May 2nd, from 11am-12pm in the Faculty Hub.

In this session, we will discuss why students struggle with theory, clarify what we hope our students will gain from engaging with theory, and explore potential strategies for making these texts more accessible. Together, we will rethink how we can help students approach theory in a way that promotes deeper engagement, critical thinking, and intellectual growth. Lunch will be provided! Register here to let us know that you plan to join us, and to provide us with information about dietary preferences or restrictions.
