Teaching@UR Cohort (for new faculty)

The Teaching@UR Cohort is a year-long experience designed to support faculty in their first year at UR. The program is open to all faculty members who are beginning their careers at the institution.
Fall semester:
In the fall, participants will attend bi-weekly cohort meetings centered around teaching topics and will have a chance to discuss challenges and successes that arise in the course of the semester. In addition to these meetings, at midterm, each participant will gather student feedback about their teaching through a facilitated course assessment, led by a member of the Faculty Hub staff.
The meetings will take place from 12:00-1:00 pm in the Faculty Hub on the following Fridays: September 5, September 19, October 3, October 17, October 31, November 14, and December 5.
Lunch will be provided. Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions when you register.
Spring semester:
For the second semester, the cohort will split into smaller groups, each with a Faculty Hub staff member as a support person, to conduct a series of peer observations and conversations around those observations. The cohort will meet as a whole group three times: once in the beginning, one at midterm, and once at the end of the semester. (These dates and times will be determined later in the Fall semester, once teaching schedules for the spring have been finalized.)
