FLC: Building AI Literacy

As generative AI tools continue to evolve, so too does their impact on higher education. This Faculty Learning Community (FLC) is designed to help faculty build foundational literacy around artificial intelligence, with a focus on practical applications in teaching, research, and academic life. Participants will explore key concepts—such as how large language models work, what constitutes responsible use, and where AI can meaningfully enhance (or hinder) student learning.

Through discussions, hands-on demonstrations, and collaborative exploration, participants will gain experience with AI tools relevant to their disciplines, examine emerging ethical and pedagogical questions, and co-develop strategies for intentional integration into the classroom. The FLC will also create space for participants to reflect on their own learning and contribute to the growing conversation about the role of AI in the university’s academic mission.

Faculty from all disciplines and levels of experience with AI are welcome. Whether you’re curious, skeptical, or already experimenting, this FLC offers a supportive community to deepen your understanding and expand your practice.
