This interactive workshop invites faculty to explore how participatory action research approaches can be incorporated into both scholarly work and teaching. Participatory methods emphasize collaboration with communities and stakeholders throughout the research process.

Dr. Erin Bradley, a public health researcher and professor whose work focuses on developing multilevel solutions to improve population health, will guide participants through practical applications of participatory approaches. Her scholarship—published in journals such as Health Promotion Practice, Journal of Women’s Health, and MMWR—often centers on community-engaged methods for understanding complex public health challenges, including the relationship between housing and health.

Through case studies and hands-on activities, participants will examine how participatory approaches can inform research design and course projects. Faculty are welcome to bring ideas for current or future work and receive feedback on topics such as theoretical frameworks, methodological questions, or community-engaged learning projects.
